Space to think and be yourself

Busy lives can be both a positive and a negative thing. Stone Soup recognises the benefit of providing a safe, pleasant space where young people can have time to get to know themselves, whilst knowing that support is on hand when needed.

Budgeting

One of the least popular subjects for both adults and Young People we think!!!

It's never pleasant to face the reality of wanting more than our budget can realistically buy for us. At Stone Soup, we have, over the years found ways of thoughtful purchasing, which can help a limited budget go just that bit further. We try to teach young people that whether they are dealing with budgets of double digits or six figure sums, budgeting is an important life skill which can be made fun.

Housekeeping, D.I.Y,

Living alone for the first time can be a daunting prospect, at any age. At Stone Soup, we try to lead by example. Staff are on hand to demonstrate ways of achieving tasks as many times as it takes for it to be properly understood and where possible to make it fun. As good nutrition is so important to all of us for mental and physical health, we aim to encourage young people to shop well and cook for themselves. There's never a shortage of tuition and guidance in this respect.

Bank Accounts

Bank Accounts can be daunting and most of us have to learn by experience on how they work. However, for a young person who may not have family support and guidance, learning this way can have disastrous and long lasting effects. We consider it essential that young people are taught to understand and manage money, and we aim to demystify the day to day banking process.
